Enjoying and Achieving in Cambridgeshire: 18th June, the Old Habitat Building, 17 Fitzroy Street Cambridge
Big Wide Talk is hosting this seminar as a way of enabling a discussion between local parents, policy makers and elected representatives about how best to support children’s learning. The Colourbox gave children the opportunity to replicate Newton’s famous experiments with light on their own terms. The Theatre of Learning provoked much excitement and, as the subsequent reflective sessions with children, parents and practitioners showed, revealed much learning.
David Howarth, MP and Mary Jane Drummond, writer and researcher, will speak at the seminar. Five Cambridgeshire primary schools Mayfield, St Laurences, The Grove, Castle and Orchards, as well as the Montessori Nursery at Gamlingay will present research stories about their Colourbox experience. There will be a plenary led by Ann Jamieson, CEO of Big Wide Talk, followed by wine and crisps. ‘We hope that the parents and practitioners of Cambridgeshire will take this opportunity to discuss children’s learning together, and agree on proposals for how best to support their children to enjoy and achieve’ – Ann Jamieson
The seminar will take place at the old Habitat Building, 17 Fitzroy Street 19:30-21:30. Please telephone 01223 364727 or email events@bigwidetalk.org to secure a place.
